Ludified!
Folks, the thin line between work and play is getting thinner all the time out here on the frontiers of virtuality, and for a long time now I've been keeping a close watch on the trend -- so you don't have to. Now catch my latest observations from the field in Ludified: On Work and Play at the Dawn of the Game Age, recently written up for the German art magazine Kunstforum and based on remarks I made at State of Play: Reloaded last October.

(Bonus for State of Play completists: My talk from 2003 -- Owned! Intellectual Property in the Age of eBayers, Gold Farmers, and Other Enemies of the Virtual State; Or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the End-User License Agreement -- is now available for your reading pleasure.)

"We Pledge Allegiance to the Penguin"
If you missed my feature article on Brazilian minister of culture Gilberto Gil and the international politics of intellectual property in the November issue of Wired magazine, now's as good a time as any to check out 2004's most-talked-about feature article on Brazilian minister of culture Gilberto Gil and the international politics of intellectual property. The kids at Slashdot dug it, the folks at major Brazilian daily Estado de São Paulo ran a wide-eyed editorial about it, and my editors at Wired just told me they're nominating it for a National Magazine Award. I'd like to thank God and all the little people for making this possible.
